post modernist portrait series

Largely based on stories, Post Modernist Portraits reads like a catalogue of celebrity anecdotes, the first of these being 'Patricia Highsmith Smuggling Snails from England to France, hidden under her breasts'. Highsmith was renown for her lack of empathy with fellow humans and favoured her cats and snails for company, having been known to bring a collection of the latter to social functions concealed in her handbag. When she moved from England to France, she was forced to resort to repeatedly smuggling her pets hidden under her breasts, due to a  snail import ban.

Also included in the series is 'Patti Smith imbibing the work of Arthur Rimbaud through a metaphorical process of osmosis', and 'Tommy Cooper demonstrating transient euphoria to Prince  Phillip at the 1965 FA Cup Final as Ian St John scored the winning goal for Liverpool in the 113th  minute' - a reference to the story of when, at the Royal Variety Performance, Cooper asked the Queen if she liked football, and if she didn't, could he have her tickets for Wembley'.
